I have had the recent experience of living with a family which is not mine. An indian family.
I have come to understand the dynamics of it, better that ever.
On the surface, it is a wonderful thing. Its nice to have an audience. Its nice to have a witness to your otherwise meaningless, lonely life.
But when you peel the outer layer, things start getting complex. Am not talking about fights. am not talking about misunderstandings. am not talking about the numerous other macroscopic problems that one gets to see in house- holds.
Am talking about the dull, almost invisible, grey space that exists between 2 people married for a long time. Am talking about the lack of color, am talking about the lack of rhythm, am talking about the low-frequency noise that is almost inaudible but yet alarmingly harmful to life.
In a marriage, no matter how much you had loved your wife, there is no scope for competition. Marriage defies the basic law of life, survival of the fittest. A male of the species, gets a female of the species with out the faintest of efforts. How is this justifiable?
Come on, lets face the facts. Indian women, unfortunately are tied down by marriage, no matter how broad their outlook is. The same is the case with indian men. Other than sex, Love has one other pillar. That's the need to please. If there isn't a need to please, whats the point in love?
The more i live close to a couple, the more i lose my belief in Marriage....
